bulk transfer
A payment from the seller's pension scheme to the buyer's scheme in respect of those transferring employees who join the buyer's scheme and in respect of whom a transfer will be made from the seller's scheme ("consenting members"). After the bulk transfer, the consenting members cease to be entitled to benefits under the seller's scheme and become entitled to benefits under the buyer's scheme instead. The bulk transfer represents the aggregate of the value of the consenting members' benefits in the seller's scheme.
