The record that lists the amount of funds and assets invested in a business by the owners or stockholders, including retained earnings. It states the net worth of the business at a given time.

capital account
USA
An account that represents a partner's equity in a partnership. The partner's share of equity is the amount that would be received if the partnership was liquidated and all of the assets were sold at their book value, all liabilities paid, and the net proceeds distributed to the partners. Members of an LLC also have capital accounts if the LLC is classified as a partnership for US federal income tax purposes.
