deemed foreign income dividend
foreign income dividends (FIDs) were abolished from 6 April 1999. Certain dividends (those linked to transactions in securities) and share buybacks which were deemed FIDs were treated in the same way as FIDS so that shareholders could not reclaim any tax credits.
