host state
This term has a number of meanings depending on the context in which it is used:
• A European Economic Area member state (other than the home state) in which an institution wishes to establish a branch or provide cross-border services. The regulator in the host state will only have limited powers in relation to the branch or the services provided.
• For the purposes of the Prospectus Directive, the state where an offer to the public is made or admission to trading is sought, when different from the home state.
