pre-hearing

pre-hearing
In employment law, a hearing at which a borderline appeal to the EAT in respect of an employment tribunal decision can be considered to see whether it has complied with the EAT rules and at which the appeal will be accepted or rejected. At a pre-hearing the appellant may make oral submissions but the respondent (that is, the party who is not appealing) will not have the right to be heard, although they are permitted to submit written representations in advance of the pre-hearing.
