In the context of employment law, an assessment of the levels of harm which may be involved in various workplace activities and as a result of using equipment required to carry these activities out and the likelihood of such harm occurring. Risk assessments are carried out for the purposes of identifying any appropriate control measures required in order to minimise or eliminate risk and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety law and regulation.
