specific disclosure

specific disclosure
In the context of dispute resolution, the usual order for disclosure is an order for standard disclosure, but the court can order that certain specific documents or classes of documents are disclosed, or further specific searches are conducted where there is evidence that a party is in breach of its disclosure obligations. Note that the court can make a specific disclosure order requiring a party to disclose, or search for and disclose documents which:
• "It is reasonable to suppose may contain information" which will assist the applicant's case or damage the respondent's case; or
• "Which may lead to a train of enquiry which has either or those consequences" (see paragraph 5.5(1)(b), Practice Direction 31).
