unitary development plan

unitary development plan
An old style development plan prepared by a metropolitan district authority and some unitary local authorities. A unitary development plan contains policies similar to those found in both a structure plan and a local plan. These plans will continue to exist for a while after the introduction of the new development system under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 due to the transitional provisions provided for in that Act.
