In the context of administration of a deceased's estate, a formal instruction given by an individual (the nominor), that states who should receive, or have the benefit of, an asset owned by the nominor when he or she dies.
Nominations may be made in relation to pensions and deposits held in Friendly Societies. Nominations can be binding (unless and until they are revoked or amended by the nominor), or they can be merely a statement of wishes (for example, to guide the trustees of a pension fund). See also nominated assets.
