Child Care Index

Child Care Index
a list, maintained by the Department of Health, of people thought to be unsuitable to work with children that has been held to be legal and reasonable. The list is not published and contains material other than criminal convictions, such as referrals from employers, although the person listed has the opportunity to make representations at the time of his inclusion. Statutory provisions for a similar scheme under the Protection of Children Act 1999 are expected to be brought into force soon.
