Court of Auditors

Court of Auditors
a body of the European Communities. It was created by the Merger Treaty. It considers the accounts of the Community and related bodies, not only to monitor the legality but also to determine the quality of the financial management. Checks are made in the institutions but also in member states, usually in cooperation with the national audit bodies. It produces an annual report.
