Criminal Defence Service

Criminal Defence Service
(CDS)
a part of the system for provision of legal aid in criminal matters in England and Wales set out in the Access to Justice Act 1999. At the time of writing the details were the subject of consultation by the Lord Chancellor's Department. The model is that of a publicly salaried public defender.
