edictal citation

edictal citation
in Scottish civil procedure, the service of court papers by public advertisement, usually on the walls of court where the defender cannot otherwise be found. There is a trend towards substituting intimation in newspapers circulating in the area, either as an alternative (as in the summary cause) or along with posting on the walls (as is the case in many insolvency petitions).
