Law Society of Scotland

Law Society of Scotland
the statutory body that both represents and controls solicitors in Scotland, established initially by the Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1949. Its executive body is the elected Council and day-to-day business is administered by a permanent secretariat. It is not responsible for discipline as such, that being the preserve of another statutory body, the Scottish Solicitors Discipline Tribunal. The Law Society of Scotland administers a guarantee fund.
