◇ In most cases, minimum contacts are shown by continuous and purposeful contact with the state usu. for business purposes. Once the minimum contacts requirement is met, the court must determine that the contacts are sufficient so that the assertion of jurisdiction will not offend the traditional notions of fair play and substantial justice.

minimum contacts
A legal requirement that for a lawsuit to go forward against a nonresident defendant of a given state, the defendant must have some connections with that state. For example, advertising or having business offices within a state may provide minimum contacts between a company and the state, even if the company is based elsewhere.
