placing
This term has different meanings depending on its context:
• In the context of share issues, an issue of shares to a specific group of individuals (usually institutions). Statutory pre-emption rights will normally have to be disapplied in order to effect a placing. Investor Protection Committees impose strict limits on the number of shares that can be issued in this way and the value at which they can be issued.
• In the context of insurance, effecting an insurance.
