protector
An individual, a group of individuals or a company who (or which) is given certain powers under the trust deed or in certain jurisdictions under statute. These powers commonly include the requirement that they consent to the exercise of certain powers of the trustees, the ability to change trustees and to change or to consent to changes to the trust deed. Protectors are usually provided for in offshore trusts.
