search order

search order
Prior to the introduction of the Civil Procedure Rules, known as Anton Piller orders. Also known as "search and seizure orders". A court order which provides for the preservation of the subject matter of a claim or the preservation of documents and articles relating to the claim. It requires a defendant to allow a claimant's solicitors to search the defendant's premises and remove all items covered by the order.
